The University of Illinois Veterans Memorial Project has an internet memorial tribute to another of Frisky’s brave men, Lt. Col. Sanders Delaney, who commanded Yearling (406th Fighter Squadron) from October, 1944, until his unfortunate loss in a flying accident in June, 1945, shortly after the end of the war in Europe.
Ironically, Major William T. Bales, Jr., mentioned in the post below, was Lt Col Delaney’s wingman, “Yellow Two,” in the April 13, 1945, aerial engagement in which Maj Bales went missing.
